TREE PLANTING

WITH CAFF

Petra’s Tree Planting Project, founded in 1999 by Petra and her team, CAFF, is a communitydriven initiative dedicated to preserving the natural landscape by planting indigenous trees. This effort fosters biodiversity and resilience, with community members actively participating in nurturing tree nurseries and engaging in discussions on climate issues, GMO crops, and seed diversity during monthly meetings.

The project strategically plans afforestation during the main rainy seasons to address environmental challenges. Petra’s team also educates school children about the importance of afforestation and extends their efforts to community lands, landfills, and dams, promoting a holistic approach to environmental conservation.

Every member serves as a volunteer or guardian of future trees, making funding vital for the project’s continuity. Your support helps sustain these endeavors, nurturing a greener, more sustainable tomorrow. Join Petra’s Tree Planting Project in cultivating a legacy of
environmental responsibility.

SANDAI WEAVERS

SUPPORTING COMMUNITIES SINCE 2007

Sandai Weavers logo

Sandai Weavers is a social enterprise that was established in 2019. The project has been supporting community members since the drought in 2008, teaching them various crafts to sell so that they would be able to access basic needs such as food. Eventually, Sandai Weavers started its own workshop and permanently employed the community members to provide them with a more stable income and
long-term employment opportunities. The project aims to empower the local community by creating sustainable livelihoods through traditional weaving techniques.

OUR CHILDREN'S HOME

PAMOJA MACHIUKA

Petra has dedicated over 37 years of her life to social sustainable work, and after completing a children’s home project
in Isiolo, she was moved to set up a new home for children in need. Currently, Pamoja Machuka is home to 15 children, whom a home mother, a cook, and a caretaker look after. Located just 10 minutes from Sandai. We believe that supporting and caring for these children is an important part of our mission, and we are happy to arrange visits for our guests during their stay. If you would like to find out more about our work with the children’s home, please follow this link.
